    The permanent account number (PAN) card is a photo id, in which 10 digits alphanumeric card number allotted to any person. The Ministry of Finance, Government of India, issues it and it is mandatory to filing of tax returns. In addition the pan card can be used as identification for opening a bank account, applying for passport, while traveling with e-Tickets in trains etc.

    Permanent Account Number or PAN is a ten-digit alphabetic number in India. The income tax department has issued the laminated card. It does not change with the change or place where you are being determined. For obtaining information for the pan card the following department authorized:

    A. UTI Technology Services Limited (UTITSL) For those all citizens and towns where the tax offices set up and to manage IT PAN Service Centers

    B. National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) Providing PAN card services by Tax Information Network (TIN) facility centers.

    The income tax act provides that every person whose total income exceeds the maximum amount, which he / she not paying tax or any person who is engaged in a trade or business, whose total income, without any profit or gross receipts in excess of Rs. 5 lakh in the last year or any person required to file return of income, will apply for the pan card. Additionally, a person who does not meet the above conditions, he / she may can apply for allotment of PAN. The central government by notification dated 06.01.2000, any class or classes of persons, including importers and exporters will specify whether they pay any tax or otherwise the person may apply for allotment for pan to the assessing officer. From dated 1.4.2006 the person who is responsible for filing the return for the benefits that have been allocated to the PAN card. He / she does not need to get another PAN card. In any fiscal year after the tax is imposed on income, which is called to determine the relevant assessment year before June 30 of the year to apply for PAN.

    For the allotment of pan card application need to send in form 49 A. While filling of application this form is to be noted that the following points:
    The application must be typed or handwritten in black ink to be capitalized.

    Two black and white photographs should be attached.

    Give special attention to address when filling the contact details the pan will be sent to the specified address on form.

    Fathers name to be place in the place of asked section. Married women are not required to give husbands name.

    Special attention should be given to fill the right birth date.

    The form must be signed in English or in any Indian language on two specified place. In case of thumb print attestation is mandatory by gazetted officer.

    Purchase and sale of motor vehicle

    Transactions in shares for more than Rs. 50000

    Opening a new bank account

    Fixed deposit more than Rs. 50000

    Applications for the allocation of telephone connections

    Payment for more than Rs. 25000 in any hotel

    By the time he provided his usual pan Index registration number assigned to the person or may refer to the number GIR.

    For the notification of changes to be given to the assessment officer in case of death of assesses, Business Close, Firm is dissolved, Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) division, company ended or close, company merger, or acquisition conference etc.

    NOTE If applicant is using any bill or bank / card statement then than it must be not less than six months old.
    Fees for PAN Card and Payment Process
    β For application of PAN fee is Rs. 105 (in which Rs. 93 for fees and 12.30% service charge)

    β Fees can be paid by demand draft, credit card or by the cheque mode

    β The cheque or DD must be made with the name of NSDL PAN

    β DD should be payable at Mumbai and on the back side of DD write the acknowledgment number and applicant name

    β The applicants can pay the payment by cheque in HDFC bank branch across the country. Applicants should refer to NSDLPAN at slip.

    Online Apply Procedure for Pan Card
    Before starting the process of online application of PAN card you must have a Rs. 105 bank draft or cheque or you have credit card for online payment.

    First give information for ward / circle, range, commissioner, area code, AO code, range code and AO related information. To get these information click Here > https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/servlet...ha=A&display=N this information also can be obtained by nearest income tax office.

    After this fill the given application form and give the information about your office. If you are not having any office address fill your own / residence address on this section.

    After filling the application form click to the submit button and then check that all the information is filled correct. If all information is correct click to the confirm button after filling the given code on the page.

    After this you can get the acknowledgment number with the form. This number is unique reference number for the pan card application. This number you can use in future for checking the status of your application online. Take the printout of this acknowledgment slip and keep it safe.

    After taking the acknowledgment form print affix a recent clicked passport size color photo in the given place and sign on the given box. Make sure at the time of signing do not touch outside box line.

    Attach your address proof, identification proof with the application form and send it to the office address with the bank draft. Must write the acknowledgment number in the back side of bank draft (DD).

    Make sure about the acknowledgment form with affixed photo, personal id proof, address proof and Rs. 105 bank draft before sending the application form in the NSDL office to get the new PAN card.

    In an envelope write Application for PAN Card Acknowledgment Number (as 88101000000055) and after that send it to the address of NSDL, Income Tax PAN Services Unit, National Securities Depository Limited, 3rd Floor, Sapphire Chambers, Near Baner Telephone Exchange, Baner, Pune 411045 (Maharashtra State).

    Send you application through the registered post and make sure that will reach within the duration of 15 days after filing the application form. The application process will starts after that when you will submit the DD or cheque payment. For any help regarding to the PAN card make your call in 27218080 after using Maharashtra state std code 020 or you also can send your mail in tininfo[@]nsdl[do]co[dot]in. You also check the status of application form through the phone sms by sending text PAN<space>acknowledgment number and then send it to the 53030. The department also provides the offline process in which you have to download the form 49A and after filling the complete details and attaching all documents have to visit in the nearest pan application submission center.
