The Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mr. Anil Deshmukh has gave the information that after declaring illegal to using the ration card more than one the state government of Maharashtra has started the card in biometrics mode. The minister also told that this system has started to stop using the fake ration cards. As per the records the state govt of Maharashtra has already found more than 30 lakhs fake ration cards till now date. The minister said that the ration card has motive to provide the low price food grain for all poor citizens in state also to make this process fair the central govt also had passed the subsidy of six thousand crore for Maharashtra government but after all these the citizens are not getting the food grains. The minister also told that for the process to making the ration card in Maharashtra the shopkeepers and brokers takes more than 10 thousands which is not legal.
The Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena Legislator has commented also for the government and told that the state govt was started the work to get the ration card in year 2005 through the computerized mode through which the govt controls the fake ration cards. Is the govt of state will start this kind of work again? The Deshmukh said that in the starting the government was planned to provide the ration card as the barcodes process but now to stopping the fake cards in state the govt will works for biometrics. They also said that soon in state all citizens will get these kinds of cards.
As we know that the some days before the govt caught the ration cards of chief minister Chhattisgarh Mr. Raman Singh and the CM of UP Mr. Akhilesh Yadav. Even the Chief Minister of UP has name in the BPL (below poverty level) in the Maharashtra ration card list and someone also had got food grains with that. Also Mr. Raman’s ration card was included in the general category list of state. In the last October of this year 2013 the govt has issued thousands of ration cards in state and the govt has found various mistakes by the department in making process. Govt has also published the notification to increase the time period to getting the card from 7 days to 1 month. In the one year duration the department of food and security has issued more than 10 thousands per month of BPL cards. Even the govt also got the ration card for ration cards with the name of CM’s in UP, Maharashtra Gujarat and Chhattisgarh also there was a card caught with the name of Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. After all these the govt is now aware and observant regarding for these matters.
However after passing the food security bill by the central govt in Delhi all ration cards are now can get through the name of family head woman. In upcoming days this bill also going to applicable in all states. Through this process now the ration card will made by the name of family female apart from male. The bill has been passed after the suggestion of UPA president Soniya Gandhi through the help of national advisory council which has been also passed by the all ministers under the Pranab Mukharji. As per the NAC the female applicant who wants to add their name in ration card or want new card with their name must be having the age above of 18 years. In case there is no woman at home the department will make the card with the name of male applicant. However this bill only has passed right now for some of the states but in Maharashtra it will come soon.
